Ashlyn and Jay’s Engagement mini session at North Avenue Beach was seriously SO MUCH FUN. Ashlyn is actually my hairdresser and just the sweetest person, so I was thrilled to have the opportunity to spend time with her and Jay and capture some moments from their day.
North Avenue Beach is arguably one of the most iconic spots in the city for engagement photos. Located just off of Lakeshore Drive, the beach lines the edge of Lincoln Park. For Ashlyn and Jay’s session we met up at North Avenue Beach during blue hour and the sky was just gorgeous. That combined with the Chicago skyline in the backdrop make for the perfect setting for an engagement session. We added in some string lights as well for a little extra flair and we ended up with so many great photos to remember this special time in Ashlyn and Jay’s lives.
For engagement photos at North Avenue Beach, I typically suggest for my clients to meet me on the lake side of the North Avenue Beach House. If you decide to drive to your engagement session at North Avenue Beach there is plenty of parking at the beach itself, or on the other side of Lake Shore Drive in the Lincoln Park Parking lot. From there it is an easy walk over to the lakefront.
If you’re looking for somewhere other than North Avenue Beach don’t worry, there are SO many gorgeous locations in the city for an engagement session. I could honestly make a never ending list, but here are a few of my favorites.
Located just North of Navy Pier, Milton Lee Olive Park is the perfect laid back location for the couple that wants photos on the lakefront, and maybe a bit of Navy Pier mixed in.
Yes, literally the whole neighborhood. Lakeview is such a fun location because it has a little bit of everything. Between Lincoln Park Zoo, the Peggy Notebaert Museum, the city feel on Clark Street, there is so much of what is great about Chicago all within a couple of blocks.
While it might not be as renowned as North Avenue Beach, Promontory Point is such an amazing spot for an engagement session. There is plenty of lakefront space to choose from, a great view of the city and it’s typically a little less busy than North Ave.
Congratulations to Ashlyn and Jay on their engagement, I’m so glad I was able to be a part of their session at North Avenue Beach!
