Lately, I have been in love with in-home sessions and everything that makes them so unique! From how personal and intimate they are, to the more relaxed setting, and how individual they feel for every couple, there’s so much that makes in-home sessions great. Not only are in-home sessions a ton of fun as a photographer, they’re also a blast for couples. If you’re on the fence about whether or not you want to have an in-home session, or you’re skeptical about what makes them so special, keep reading as I’m going over my top 5 reasons you should consider having one.
If you’re like me, you probably spend more time in your home than any other place throughout your relationship. It’s where you feel the most comfortable. It’s where you can express yourselves the most freely. This is one of the main reasons why I love documenting couples through an in-home session. Everywhere you look there are details that tell the stories of their relationship, give you an insight to their interests, and showcase everything that makes them and their relationship unique.
If this is your first home together, if you’ve recently moved, or if you’ve been living in this home for years and really have made it your own, show it off and celebrate with an in-home session! In-home sessions are great ways to show off a mile marker you have reached, or an achievement that you two have made together such as purchasing a home. Whether it’s the anniversary of your wedding, or you just finished renovating your home, an in-home session captures who you are at this point in time and everything you’ve accomplished together.
Have any dogs, cats or other animals in your life? What better way to include them in your photos than scheduling an in home session! Really any pets other than dogs can be hard to document during a session outside of your home. So if you do have pets that you love more than anything, I recommend planning an in-home session that they can be a part of!
Some of the most magical moments between you and your partner happen in your ordinary day to day life. If you want some of these moments documented, having an in-home session is a great way to do that. Snuggle on the couch like you’re watching a movie, dance in the kitchen while making pancakes, all the little moments that make your relationship what it is can all be documented throughout an in-home session. Every person and couple is unique, which is why capturing these smaller moments that make us who we are often becomes some of your favorite photos of yourself and your relationship!
Contrary to popular belief, you do not need a beige walled, perfectly tidy home to be deserving of an in-home session. Whether you’re halfway through construction, you really don’t have time to clean the kitchen, or you just prefer your home to look a little lived in, you can have your in-home session in whatever state your home might be, as you’re comfortable with it. If you want to have an in-home session, but the idea of having the session in your home makes you uncomfortable, have your session in an Airbnb instead! This is a great way to document these moments you love so much from home without actually being in your home.
If you couldn’t tell by now I am obsessed with in-home sessions and everything that makes them unique to each couple. If you’re looking to have a session, whether it’s your anniversary, to celebrate a milestone, or just to have one, and you’d like it in your home I’d love to be a part of it! Head to my contact page to send me an inquiry and we can start planning together.
