When Jake contacted me about proposing to Emmy on the Riverwalk in Downtown Naperville I was over the moon with excitement. I LOVE surprise proposals, and I love exploring new places with my couples! Downtown Naperville is such a fun space filled with so many unique spots for photos. After talking with Jake, we decided that the bridge going across the river was the perfect spot for him to propose.

When planning surprise proposals, I always make a fairly detailed plan with the partner that inquires. We start by choosing a location for documenting this important moment! When Jake suggested downtown Naperville for the proposal, I knew the Riverwalk would be the perfect spot.

For Jake and Emmy’s proposal in Downtown Naperville, I made sure to be stationed nearby the bridge over the Naperville Riverwalk. Jake and I set up a rough time that they would arrive and I made sure to get there early. I do this just in case my couples arrive sooner than they originally expected. I waited with my camera ready for Jake and Emmy to cross the bridge.  Soon after I saw them, Jake dropped to one knee and asked Emmy to marry him!  She was SO surprised and I loved being there to document all of their joy and love.

After their proposal, we took some photos along the Riverwalk in downtown Naperville.  When your emotions are high and you’re excited about everything that comes with a surprise proposal, I LOVE taking a handful of extra photos to truly document the emotions you experience following your proposal.  We took some photos around the area that Jake proposed before heading out to a second surprise!

Jake had gathered Emmy and his closest friends and family for a drinks in downtown Naperville to surprise Emmy after he proposed!  Emmy was SO excited to see all her closest friends and family and share with them exactly how Jake proposed.  They shared drinks and celebrated the newly engaged couple before heading out for some group photos.  Jake and Emmy’s proposal was so sweet and I had so much fun documenting this important moment in their life for them!  If you’re looking to plan your own surprise proposal, head to my contact page and set up a call!
